Bishop Carroll’s Lieb sets positive example

Bishop Carroll senior Alex Lieb has been selected as western Pennsylvania’s “Most Positive High School Athlete” in the sport of girls’ volleyball by Positive Athlete, an organization created by former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Hines Ward.
Lieb, along with 27 winners in other sports, will be honored in a ceremony at Senator John Heinz History Center and Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum in Pittsburgh on April 20. Lieb was nominated for the distinction by Huskies coach Joe Skura.
“This means so much to me because my team and volleyball are really important to me,” Lieb said. “I’m honored and blessed to have been nominated by my coach and to receive this nomination from Hines Ward.”
Lieb played at opposite hitter for the Huskies and she played in 78 sets for the team, which finished 17-7.
“She has been nothing but the eptimoe of a positive athlete in her time with Bishop Carroll volleyball,” Skura said. “She is a stellar young lady with a story that can inspire anyone in any sport. Her love for volleyball is contagious and her dediciation is humbling.”
