DiFrancesco gets October Point Stadium Award nod

Bishop McCort High School’s versatile senior Luke DiFrancesco used an all-around effort to earn the October Point Stadium Award nomination.
DiFrancesco accounted for 228 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in Bishop McCort’s 55-20 victory over Westmont Hilltop on Oct. 5.
DiFrancesco carried nine times for 136 yards, a 15.1 average per carry, and he scored one rushing touchdown.
He caught a 40-yard touchdown pass and ran for a 2-point conversion. DiFrancesco also returned a pair of Westmont Hilltop punts 52 yards.
At defensive back, DiFrancesco made five solo tackles and 10 stops overall.
He joins previous monthly winners: Jake Warner, Pitt-Johnstown baseball (February, March); Derrick Capiak, Mount Aloysius baseball (April); Kyle Petty, California University (Pa.) baseball (May); Marcus Shippey, Delweld baseball (June); Nate Campbell, Delweld baseball (August); and Tanner Solarczyk, Richland High football (September).
The annual Point Stadium Award winner will be announced during a banquet at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27 at Ace’s Lounge, Cambria City.

The Point Stadium Play of the Month for October went to Cambria Heights High School freshman James Baum, who returned the second-half kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown to bring the Highlanders within two points of the Crushers, 8-6.
Bishop McCort eventually won 15-6 on Oct. 18.
